CBD For Stress Relief

CBD For Stress Relief

Stress, it is something we all deal with from time to time. Sometimes, stress can motivate us or make us more productive. However, it can also do the exact opposite in higher amounts. Daily stress on the human body is very intense and disruptive. High cortisol levels can lead to many disorders such as heart problems, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and many others. There are many ways people take the edge off of constant stress. Many of these ways are unhealthy such as turning to solutions like pharmaceuticals and alcohol. Therefore, people are looking for a more natural solution to combat the stress in their high-stress lives. CBD for stress relief has been shown to be extremely promising. However, first we will explain what CBD is and what all the hype is about.

What is CBD?

CBD, is a major non-psychotomimetic compound of the Cannabis Sativa plant. It provides many benefits similar to that of Cannabis, but contains no THC. Therefore, CBD is completely legal in all 50 states. CBD carries neuroprotective and neurogenic effects. It also displays anxiolytic, or relaxing, effects in humans and animals. CBD is currently being used to treat many mental and autoimmune disorders. Likewise, the current use of CBD as an anti-cancer drug has been shown to be extremely promising in many federal funded research studies. However, the most thought-provoking research has been done on CBD for stress relief.

Research

In a federal funded study, which can be read more about here, a group of researchers set out to study this theory. They gathered a group of mice. Each mice was subjected to stress-inducing mazes and water tests many times throughout the day. The mice showed an increase in heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol levels (the stress hormone), lasting many hours after the maze and water tests were complete. After a few weeks of keeping up this routine, each mouse was found to have chronic stress based on these factors.

The researchers realized it was time to test the CBD for stress relief on the mice. Each mice was given 30mgs of liquid CBD. After two hours. The mice were tested again to see where their levels were. Already, each mouse had a decrease in blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol levels. They also had an increase in cognitive and physical function.
