Decrease Cigarette Addiction With Cannabidiol Use

It’s no surprise that cigarettes are bad for you. However, they are one of the most addictive substances on the planet with one of the worst track records. 480,000 American citizens die every year from cigarette use and 3,000 teens and preteens try cigarettes for the first time every day. If that was not shocking enough, cigarettes contain around 7,000 chemicals each, 70 of those are shown to be direct links to cancer. With all these facts, you would think most people would quit. Therefore, CBD is completely legal in all 50 states. CBD has been shown to carry neuroprotective and neurogenic effects as well as anxiolytic effects in humans and animals. It is currently being used to treat many mental and autoimmune disorders and the current use of CBD as an anti-cancer drug has been shown to be extremely promising. CBD has also been shown to be a great resource when it comes to addiction. Not to mention, it is offered in a smoke-able e-liquid form for those who can’t quite cut the habit.
Research
To prove this, a great research study was conducted, which can be read about more here, to test the effects of CBD in 24 habitual and heavy cigarette smokers. The 24 smokers were divided into two groups. The ages were between 18 to 35, all without other serious addictions, and gender did not play a role. Both groups received an inhale-able device but one group only received CBD. The other group received a placebo and neither group knew which they got. Their instructions were to puff on the device every time they felt the urge to smoke a cigarette.
Each day they were monitored by daily text messages asking how often they smoked the device and how often they were still smoking cigarettes. They were asked to keep a diary of this as well. The study lasted 14 days and the results were shocking.
The placebo group noticed no change in their daily consumption of cigarettes and were still smoking as frequently as they always have. However, the CBD oil group had changed dramatically. They noticed a 40 percent decrease across the board in the daily consumption of cigarettes. After the study was complete, many users inquired about remaining on treatment and many were able to fight their addiction completely.
